Hey, I liked that match. Jennings was cool.

...the pre-match interview is either really funny or really creepy.

I don't know what to make of that interview. It was very... uh... weird.

That interview was typically Japanese.

Here's a real MOTY candidate.  Kelly Kelly vs Layla from ECW last night.  It's like having 2 Jackie Gaydas in the ring at the same time!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZK7GUa0fLps

Good lord, joshi at its worst is never this incompetent.  Someone needs to remind the powers that be at the WWE that these girls' job is to dance and be pretty and pose for magazines.

At the risk of going out on a limb, dare I say, the infamous Jackie Gayda match was far worse than any of that. Though that is kind of like comparing spoiled milk with spoiled cottage cheese.

That said, I think this statement surmises how I feel about the way WWE uses talent: WWE's greatest weakness is its rote use of talent. A good booker gets talent over by exploiting their strengths and downplaying their weaknesses. WWE chooses to funnel its talent into roles, regardless of whether or not the fit. Sometimes the square peg will be mercilessly rammed into the round hole with no remorse or regard for the quality of the output of content. Everyone is expected to be able to wrestle and recite lines convincingly. Likewise, there seems to be little consideration for the use of valets or managers or bodyguards, etc. A good booker needs good wrestlers, but also takes the time to find a place for those people who are willing to perform but are not good at one aspect or another. WWE views talent as actors playing roles as opposed to simply "being themselves with the volume turned up" as the old cliché goes.

im not sure if it was jim cornette who popularized this style of booking or what but there are times that it helped, there are times that it didnt
a good gimmick is useless if you dont have the talent
but a good wrestler can be overlooked just because he doesnt have the right gimmick (ex. shelton benjamin & jamie noble)

Well said, HEN, and that's why I moved away from it.   I however will NOT dignify Kelly Kelly with a response, because it involves a few expletives.

BUMP-age

Here's something I found on Youtube today.  Someone went to the Ibuki show on 3/23/08 and made a Youtube video out of it.  It's basically a condensed version of the show with English subtitles.  The person who made it doesn't know much about joshi, but went with their friend who is a big Ray fan.

That was really cool. Since IBUKI's last DVD available is dated over a year ago, it could be a decade before we see this any other way...

Ray looks back and ready to go too. Also, no more Genie costume.

I just sent the girl a message asking if she could send me the match via sendspace.com. We'll see how that goes. It was cool to see someone who had never seen a wrestling match, or at least a joshi wrestling match see one for the first time, and see her perspective. Even cooler that she's not from japan, so she's most likely used to thinking women in wrestling are about huge tits.
Also I officially love Yumi Ohka. She needs to have a rematch against Hyuga sometime down the road when she's not treated as such a rookie.

Well, here's my YouTube catch of the DECADE, and best of all, it's available for download.  I don't think you can see Full Metal Alchemist (or Captain Planet) the same way again...  I know I can't, LMAO!

I thought I'd given bill.zero another reason to miss Momoe. (I miss her in the ring, too.)

We have Natsuki*Taiyo to fill that void. She even has that little Napoleon-complex asskicker attitude.
