Two preliminary skirmishes highlighted today’s show at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, with the contract signing for the upcoming SPW Singles Title match between Hiroyo Matsumoto and Yumi Ohka starting the show off.  Tetsuya Ishimaru moderated the signing, with Toshie Uematsu and Ran Yuyu waiting in the wings at ringside, while Yumi had Moeka Haruhi and Cherry at her side.  Surprisingly the signing went without a hitch, the two knowing they have a tag match later on in the evening.  The first preliminary skirmish saw the two in the upcoming contendership match facing off, as Arisa Nakajima teamed with Mio Shirai to beat Kana and Francoise.  Arisa and Kana will face off on February 14th in Osaka, with the winner facing the winner of the SPW Singles Title match between Yumi and Hiroyo at a later date.

Speaking of Yumi and Hiroyo, they saved their words and strength for the main event, as things quickly got ugly in their match, the two brawling around ringside, with Hiroyo injuring Yumi’s back with a big bodyslam onto a pile of folded chairs.  The two again brawled around the ring at the end, leaving Yuyu to hit a nasty Running Forearm on Cherry, more than enough to get the win.  Uematsu got herself involved after the match, leading to Moeka Haruhi, who flash pinned Io Shirai in the opening match of the night, coming down with a chair in hand, chasing Uematsu and Yuyu from the ring, as she was swinging it around wildly, almost hitting the referee several times.  Backstage, Hiroyo said that she took the advantage tonight and found where Yumi is most weak, and said that she would use her Argentine Backbreaker to cripple Yumi, and make her submit.  She said that it was only a matter of time until Yumi met her fate: That she was no more than a paper first champion that got lucky.

Shibuya Pro made their triumphant return to Osaka today, this time running at Delfin Arena, rather than Osaka World Hall, which is smaller and more out of the way.  A larger crowd turned out because of it, 258 fans giving the show a “No Vacancy” rating.  Moeka Haruhi’s roll has just kept going, with a streak of wins starting up, with Moeka beating Francoise today in a rematch of their “FINAL BATTLE” match last year.  These upsets are coming at a pivotal time for her, as she is finally blossoming as a wrestler, the painfully slow growth finally showing itself in the past few shows.  The rivalry that exploded over Japan in 2006 is coming back again, Shu Shibutani and Ayumi Kurihara taking to each other again, and it proved no different here tonight, with Shu taking the win in a tag team match.  The two were at each others throats after the match, and had to be separated before things could really escalate.

In their final preliminary skirmish before their SPW Singles Title match on February 22nd, Hiroyo Matsumoto took the advantage, and helped teammate Toshie Uematsu beat champion Yumi Ohka and Cherry.  Much like their prior match at the last show, Hiroyo took Yumi to the outside, and smartly worked over her lower back, leaving Uematsu to beat Cherry with a Dragon Suplex Hold.  This led to a stare down between Yumi and Hiroyo, but the two broke quietly.  Even with this title match looming on the immediate horizon, the next challenger for whomever is champion was set in the main event, Shibuya Pro’s Kana able to upset and beat JWP Junior Champion Arisa Nakajima in a great match, using the Billyken to beat her.  The two broke down in tears after the match, and hugged, with Arisa proclaiming backstage that she would rally behind Kana, and help lead her to victory, and the SPW Singles Title.  Shibuya Pro now rolls into the biggest show of the month at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, where Yumi will make her first defense of the SPW Singles Title, looking to prove that she is more than a worthy first champion.
