actually what really got vickie over as a heel is her association with edge
when she stood as the heel manager of chavo guerrero, the crowd is dead
but when she got into an angle with edge, that's when the crowd started paying attention and booed the crap out of her

and the reason is pretty simple why this got over with the crowd
the first thing you'd feel is hate coz this angle is really disgusting especially if you're an eddie guerrero mark
but i think that's the point ... to deliberately make the people hate you

That match was a tad bit disappointing for me, as I was hoping that the WWE would give the match more time; however, the match wasn't a total failure. I expected as much out of the performance from Michelle and I knew that Maryse would be carrying most of the match. I had to give Maryse props in this match, as she showed great in ring presence utilizing match psychology and setting the pace of the match.

I think it was more having to do with her voice, and constantly making life hell for the most over guy in the company in Undertaker.

I thought Maryse was good in that match, but all her work was for nothing because of Michelle wouldn't sell.

either because maryse sucked in striking or michelle is adopting the no-selling angles in her beau's matches
(somebody please remind her that UT's gimmick is a deadman and that gimmick is supposed to be a no-seller to strikes unless she wanted to be a zombie)

i know it's a Diva urban legend (perpetuated by Melina herself) that mickie is copying her outfits

are these the only instances?

on the other hand ...

that's what you call a two-piece

Mickie's had that last outfit since ROH. And the rest are basically the same outfit with different colors, with the second one having a different design.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Candace Michelle is awful.

Honestly, their ring attires (crop top with bell bottoms) are similar in composition and pattern. I just chalked it up to zero amounts of creativity; most of the other women's outfits are somewhat similar to each others as well.
the only thing different is the furry boots Melina used to wear. And think about this remember Mickie's previous top/skirt attire? While she was wearing that Melina had the crop top/bell bottoms combo.

I'm a fashionista* and Melina wins hands down in that area as well.

not so familiar with PWI though but i attached this clip as personal reference for those who ask where i got my info
i disagree on the list on several levels but i am glad that phoenix got the recognition that she deserved (ditto for kong although this is the Diva thread so the special mention goes to phoenix)

That's cool because it fits Melina's gimmick.

The PWI rankings (and for the most part the magazine) are based on kayfabe... as if the wins and losses over the last 12 months were real. It is not a representation of actual talent.

There has been a lot of that, and she is one of my all-time favorites. But, honestly, she has not had a lot of matches this year. And her appearances on TNA have mostly been to accompany someone else to the ring. Conversely, if you look at the WWE house show, TV and pay-per-view schedules, the core of their Divas roster is wrestling two, three, maybe even four times a week.

DVDR used to do a women's list. I think their lists were much more appropriate for Internet discussions which always tend to skew toward the topic of actual talent as opposed to being able to look at things from a fictional perspective like PWI. There is also that annual indy women's wrestler list that DOI (I think) puts out. That is one list that should get the heat that PWI is getting from a lot of fans. Their female wrestler of the year was Alicia... seriously.

It might be more accurate to say that she hasn't had a lot of televised matches this year. The fact is, and always has been, that PWI rankings are a joke, and are based mostly on popularity and TV airtime, not match quality, promo quality, or anything of the sort. The people with the longest title reigns are generally at the top. It's a measurement of where a person's career is, not how good they are.

Definitely. It's about push and booking, not talent. I really don't get why the lists (this on in particular) gets so much angst on the Internet when it doesn't even remotely address real-world talent.

I actually agree with Amazing/Awesome Kong at the top of the list, if we're talking about a "complete" evaluation of in-ring ability, drawing power, and overall position. I'd say she's the real lynchpin of U.S. women's wrestling right now. She's very visible, and has probably done more to garner respect for female pro wrestlers among "traditional" wrestling fans than anyone else in recent memory. Chyna had the look, but her in-ring work was suspect and her push was short-lived. Lita eventually got drawn into some retarded storylines and Trish is always going to be remembered more for how she looked. I'm not saying she didn't do a lot, but she was more of an example of "the best a Diva could be" than the best that a female wrestler could be. Kong is not just a good monster heel "for a girl". She is/was the most over heel that TNA has, and her feud with Gail Kim was inarguably the hottest thing they had going for the past year.

right on the money, ARC. and i hate comparing the kim-kong feud to the lita-trish feud since the former is more about the title and less about the appearance.

by the way, at No Mercy, it would be beth phoenix vs candice michelle

I've seen some online draw comparison between Kim-Kong and Sting-Vader. Anyway, I'm sure we will see Beth retain the title against Candice on Sunday at No Mercy. Candice is getting very little reaction from the crowd since her return.
