First of all, the one who requested the hair vs hair match between the two good friends was Emi. She said that Kaori Yoneyama's "revolution" lacks substance and appeal so that more audience come in. In fact, the tickets of JWP 09/19 had been not selling so well until Emi's request. So it could be said that Emi donated her hair to Kaori's revolution.

I think this shows Emi's attitude that takes appeals very seriously. She lost most of all big cards this year, but she impressed everyone by her fight and appeals, and Ice Ribbon keeps getting bigger.

Recently, Kana and Emi are regarded as two charisma in Japanese Joshi. But since Kana has a radical strong faith to deny the traditional Joshi, she has many enemies around.

On the other hand, what Emi has tried is to appeal how Joshi wonderfull is and how touching their fights are.

Of course there might be many other skilled wrestlers and eager coachs still today. But Emi Sakura is also a clever director and a brilliant performer.

As for Emi's hair..it looks like she's taking up the Ozaki/Roxx way of going though a billion awkward hairstyles while she grows it back, as opposed to the Serena Deeb way of just letting it grow as quickly as possible and not touching it until then.

Besides all that, sometimes a girl feels like putting on a suit and looking as cool as possible without being the comparatively very vulnerable feminine ideal (especially in Japan).

How much of her early stuff is available?  I've only come across one match from '98 against Sumie Sakai which is kind of funny to watch because Emi, not to say she's fat or anything but she looks a WHOOOOLE lot skinnier and comes out with the most ridiculous Victorian-style dress to "Trouble" by Shampoo.

How much of her early stuff is available?

Asked almost a year ago but no one answerd so I might as well.

There's about 9-10 IWA Japan matches available that I know of from 97 & 98.

Earliest footage I can find is from late 96 with her showing up on a few JWP shows.

She appeared semi reg for AJW from 97 through early 99 so there's a fair amount of that available and she shows up randomly on a good amout of JD shows in 96 - 97 and a handfull of LLPW around that time as well.

From about mid 99 through late 2001 when she got injured she was a member of FMW and there's plenty of that available too.
