LADY'S Ring is reporting that Sakura-sensei will be the "One Day Chief of the shop" of the DDT DropKick bar on 10.24 from 7PM to 11PM. Of course she has something planned.

You have to call DropKick in advance since only those reserved will be allowed in at the time.

apart from her Ice ribbon thing I don't know anything about her. When and where did she start her career? Has she ever been a champion?are there any matchesfeaturing Emi when she was younger?

I've first seen Emi in the AJW 35th Anniversary show, and to be honest, that match she was in REALLY helped my insomnia.  But seeing her do this Ice Ribbon thing lately, I'm starting to dig her more.  Maybe it's because I saw one of her youngest students deliver the best damn 619 (forgive my WWE terminology) this side of Rey Misterio in some mixed tag match on YouTube.

Since the show was awhile ago it's on the other board. Here's photos of THE Ayako vs. Emi at NEO 9/17.

She really impressed me in her match vs Tamura not too long ago. But like the others here, I really don't know much about her.

My only match I've seen her in was on a Arsion DVD I got from ebay Ayako Hamada -vs- Emi Motokawa [** 3/4] ARSION Samurai TV: July 31, 2001 vol 1 (Taped 7/21, Sendai)
It was a good match, I remember her doing a nice rana, she wore a orange singlet like a rookie would (so maybe this was her debut year??) Which surname is her real name?
Would anybody like to trade Joshi dvds with me?
Best wishes Pete

She didn't have a singlet, but she was wearing an orange costume even up to last year. That's why even though she wears red now her streamers are still orange.

This is what her Wikipedia entry says:

IWA Japan (1994 - 1999)
FMW (1999 - 2002)
Freelancer (2002 - 2003)
GatoKunYang  (2003 -2006)
Ice ribbon (2006 -)

Please go to VEOH and watch her singles versus Tamura from this year.

Here real name is Emi Motokawa, but she goes by Emi Sakura now.

Actually, she is the soon to be wife of NEO's President Koda (I can't remember his first name at the moment).  Mr. Gannosuke is with Ice Ribbon because he and Emi are still good friends, from when they were both in FMW.

This graphic is on the NEO president's blog.

I can't read exactly what it says since my knowlege of kanji sucks. And one of the hiragana characters, if that's what it is, had me likewise baffled.

But I do know it says

さくなか - Sakura

今年のMVPは - This year's MVP

スキ - suki - Likes

を?いた = wo? ita

女子プロレス = joshi puroresu

?

の = no

So if anybody else can help with the remaining two characters.

Regardless, he's saying as of now Emi Sakura is 2007 MVP. And I can't really argue...

joshi puroresu *something* of (suki wo ita...wo is a case modifier for suki in this instance, I think) this year's MVP, Emi Sakura.

Best I can do just off the top of my head

I got all that. My problem is the kanji symbol in-between wo (を) and ita (いた).

And the kanji after Joshi Puroresu (女子プロレス) and before no (の)

Not that the message isn't clear, that Emi is a contender for MVP...

Emi's had a great year. Definitely the first year the fans showed her high-level support. I still think putting the NEO belt on her would've been great, with Matsuo beating her instead.

Toshie is probably the MVP on just amount of work alone, but I think Emi brought out the biggest response  from fans.

Meiko also because of how the Sendai Girls are turning out now that they're in Rookie mode as opposed to student mode.

Emi is probably one of the best contemporary wrestlers we rarely praise enough. She can do it all. She has really moved up my personal list of favorites with the stuff I've seen from her this past year... from the Ice Ribbon stuff to the Tamura match. Emi is pure awesomeness, but kind of overlooked.

To gaijin yes, she's overlooked. Not in Japan though, where she's well liked. Just check out the sick amount of ribbons she gets in her Korakuen Hall intros.

She also was only a mid-card freelancer as Emi Motokawa, albeit a solid one.

But remember the old-timer gaijin joshi fans won't give her much credit because *GASP* Ice Ribbon is CREEPY~~!!11

And the idea of training 9 and 10 year old is apparently a huge mistake to these people, despite being supporters of the era where you HAD to retire at 25.

Also, for some reason nobody wants to give her credit for training Ray, Natsuki and IchiMai.

Annnddd...Current joshi puroresu MUST NOT BE GIVEN CREDIT OR PRAISED IN ANY MANNER LESS IT DISTRACTS FROM THE EARLY 90s!!!

IT'S ALL DEAD!!! DEAD I TELL YOU!!!

Anyway, yeah Emi is over like rover in Japan. One Japanese fan told me she was a "politician" when I asked why she was handing out NEO flyers at the BJW show. "So we see her face," he said.

To me that's not being a politician, that being a promoter.

I'm still of the belief that anyone who finds that "creepy," does so for some deep-seeded, repressed and personal reason. Would they find cheerleaders, gymnasts or figure skaters in that age range "creepy."

I hear ya. You'd think this contemporary stuff wasn't any good or worth watching at all... let them tell it.

But yeah... I know she's over in Japan. I meant that she is kind of "overlooked" around here despite her overness.
