Manami Toyota vs Akira Hokuto = Queen of Workrate vs Queen of Drama

That's the arguement over who is the greater "greatest wrestler."

Toyota was the only woman featured on PWT's top 100 wrestlers. She came at 77 with the the caption "More 5 star matches than hogan."

Speaking of those two....I know I've asked this a million times but does anyone have any of their matches, and if so could you put them on veoh? And does anyone have toyota vs yamada(Not the hair vs hair but the other one that had better wrestling without all the heat) or the two tags against kudo or the one where she gets uber bloody?

I do have one of their matches, and thanks to googling, I'm not sure if it's the one from Destiny or not, but it's from September of 1995, and it's probably my most popular vid.  I think that actually this isn't from Destiny, but from a match from earlier that month.  I'm shocked if you didn't see this yourself already, so here you go.

I could only find a clipped version, but it's still one of my big guns when it comes to converting people to joshi:

As sure as I'm the Mistress of Something, I'll get and post the unclipped version!

Yeah I just saw a match where tojuki leon did it. Wow she's pretty awesome.

But what was the point of toyota's outside quebradas? She always seemed to hurt herself a hell of a lot more than her opponents.

the mariko yoshida match from 2001? I always thought it was a little bit too much of styles clashing

i think that match was very good coz even if toyota's style is more of a high flyer and yoshida is more of a submission specialist, the match ended up very good

I'll have to rewatch it because when I first saw it I got so bored because manami toyota is such a highflyer that she never tried to reverse any of yoshida's submissions, she just tried to get to the ropes. I do believe toyota does have some great chain wrestling skills, because she used them early in her career but I think she doesn't use them because she wants to be remembered as a high flyer or something.

It's all about Toyota being flexible as hell and it being impossible to make her submit because of that, but it's what Yoshida does best so she's determined not to let Manami counter her and is forcing Toyota to look for rope breaks.  Hmmm, has anybody made Manami submit in the last ten years?
I may drop you on your head

I had that same impression when I watched the match about a few times. I believe that Toyota's matches in the 90's (especially those from the "*****" department) had taken a toll on her - and thus she was more reserved in terms of executing extensive mat work with Yoshida. The match itself could have been better if the aforementioned were presented, but it was still a good match, nonetheless.

The last time I recalled: ALMOST NEVER!

It's on the first volume, of the 1995 Grand Prix tape....and it rules. 30 minutes full of clawing and suplexing.

And that sounds like something I need to see.
I think that match was featured on Nat'l Geographic's report of the phenom of joshi.

SWIFT made this.
