Was manami the first who introduced that roll or did she borrow the move from somebody else? at least on joshi I haven't seen anyone doing it before Toyota.

Toyota roll up's there now

Btw, it might just be me, but after watching the thunder queens battle it seems like Hikari Fukuoka wrestles a lot like manami toyota, she even does the toyota roll.

I love Manami shes my fav & Hokuto. Yes Hikari Fukuoka is very reminicent of Manami, What happened to Hikari I love her in the JWP tapes I have there all between 93 & 95 though (When did she retire) I love her 21st century Moonsault. Check out JWP TV: Oct-Nov 1993 Vol I I got it from PunQ it has Manami vs Fukuoka, Momoe Nakanishi reminds me of Manami too, probably because I don't understand how either of them take the impact those 2 take.
Much love to Manami
How do you reckon her neck felt after the last 2 moves at Dream Slam 2 !!??
Also you know how she leaps to the top rope with a full run & no hands....... has anybody else ever managed such a feat, Ive seen loads of springboards Mike Awesome & Ohtanis being my favs but never one like the fearless Manami
Best Wishes Pete

I've seen both RAY and Tojuki LEON manage the full run, no-hands springboard plancha action...I'm pretty sure Baby-M and Momoe have done the same, but don't quote on me on that

Manami Toyota is an awsome wrestler, even now shes past her best.In her prime she was perhaps in the top 5 wrestlers in the world (Both male and female).I really enjoyed her matches with Aja Kong the most.

I think we talked about it on the old forum, but she probably has the most sturdy body in pro-wrestling considering the level of bumping she did on a consistant basis (and remained nearly injury free). Most other reckless/insane people in wrestling don't last so long with knees and backs intact.

I think by this point in time, she's probably only being held together by her gear and force of will considering all of the sick bumps she's taken...either that or she's a human rubber band...

Yeah, twice she's hit the mat with her head doing a quebrada to the outside, just in the toyota/yamada vs kansai/ozaki trilogy. I can't remember the exact spot in the 3rd match but at dreamslam II when she did that one from the second rope on the inside doing the quebrada to the outside(Has anyone else done that) her face smacks right into the mat. She must me made of rubber or something. Maybe it was how skinny she was, I dunno. Can she still do the no hands planchas?

I know AKINO once did a Tope Con Hilo to THE Ayako back in ARSION.  Ayako didn't catch her right and she landed full throttle on the back of her head on the mat.  Mari Apache got pretty involved at that point and took the brunt of one of Ayako's quebrada's for AKINO to keep the match going.

One of the few times I've seen AKINO get that "Hi, my name is Ayumi Kurihara and I've just been knocked silly so I'm going to try and fall over again." look in her eyes.

TAMURA!

and yes, Toyota is very...legendary. Heh

I dunno, but I always hated, HATED when the Toyota Roll and Kyoko's big swing would come up. Sure they got a big reaction, but not my cup o' tea.

The only times I don't like the toyota roll is when it goes on for like a minute and you're like on family guy when they were watching the extended version of the maude theme song, or when she does it to a big girl and it takes 5 seconds to make her go around once.

BTW, can anyone think of a better drop kicker than toyota?

I will say, Kurihara rocks the dropkick pretty hard...

Oh, yes, Ayumi reminds me of another great dropkicker of the old age: Tomi Aoyama
Both jump very high, and instead of delivering the kick with their legs already starightened they use the legs like springs, making the impact look harder.
yesterday I watched a match where a very green (but already great) Ayumi was repeatedly dropkicking The Bloody in that way -which didn't prevent her to be severely punished for that-

I just love the height and velocity manami gets in hers and that she always uses a straight dropkick. I saw a match of hers from 89 and her dropkicks were really sad. Reminded me somewhat of haruka matsuo's last year(hers have gotten better) but just seeing toyota kick someone in the back of the head whether it's inside the ring or from the top rope to the outside it always brings me joy

Although I  like how toyota's dropkicks look better than anyone, I wholeheartedly agree with you about meiko having the best drop kick after seeing this

i like manami toyota a lot
although sometimes her voice is a little annoying, i dont mind anymore since she would always put up a good match
a personal favorite is her match with aja kong (a match i can never get enough of)

I've read on dvdr, in a review I think, (though not about any matches, just that she had been there) that she wrestled in ECW.  I don't know what dates or who against mind.   *give

Yeah, I wouldn't mind knowing if that is true or not Oni and any finer details of it myself.
Oh and she wrestled in north-korea as well, with Bull, Hokuto and Yoshida on some WCW based thing. That match got put up somewhere recently *forgets where*.  Those girls have got major gumption.  Nobody could pay me enough to do anything in North Korea  *whee
