I found this new poster of the Sendai Girls; they will be wrestling at a ring set up at an auto race on 10/28.

Along with the new names, they all have numbers now.  You know who is #1, Okuda is #2, CHISAKO is #3, the girl formely known as Yurie Kaneko but is now Hiren (tragic love) is #4, Sendai Sachiko is #5, and Mizhaaya is #6.  I guess the trainee (that we named HOTTIE HARADA yesterday on the old board) will be #7.  So Sendai steals ideas from not just GAEA, but JWP (new silly names) and ARSION (silly numbers).

Numbers?  I wonder if they will be static?  I can't see the point in having them unless they are changeable for competitive purposes.
I'm hoping Sendai isn't going to start going too crazy  :D
Have you a link for that poster Josh I?

I fixed my link.  Kori beat me to it.  Now you can look at it twice.

I think the numbers were based on the reverse order of when they wrestled on the first show (Meiko main event=#1, Okuda semi-main event=#2,..., Sachiko opener=#5) with The Miz getting #6 because she debuted later.  But maybe I'm wrong.

Anyone know where to get those original photos (before they were hacked up like that)?

:D That was funny Oni. As a Meiko mark, I would be happy to do the Photoshop and Illustrator for their posters free of cost. But yeah... that is downright horrible.

I would... which is why I was curious about if anyone had seen better versions of the originals. There is nothing worthwhile to work with in that poster.

Meiko posted on the Sendai blog today.  She thanked everyone for their concern about her injury and apologized for troubling everyone.  She was vague about how long she'd be out, but I don't think the JWP title match planned for the Sendai show on 11/18 is going to happen (at least on that day).  I'm not sure how they'll handle booking shows without Meiko.

Meiko will let Azumi stew over it and plan her revenge.

In 2008, when this match finally happens, Meiko will unleash the Dropkick of Fury.

Meiko will then be the new JWP Champion.

Some recent photos.

This is from Saturday at a fundraiser for breast cancer.  The girls are hanging out with the mayor of Sendai.  The mayor has a whole webpage full of his photo-ops; what a media whore he is (shocking for an elected official  *bwah)

Meiko did make a public appearance yesterday.  Too bad JD Stars is gone or she could work the "Pirates" gimmick with a big eye-patch  *yellow

I got an update on Meiko from Nikkan Sports, http://tohoku.nikkansports.com/news/p-tn-tp3-20071017-270961.html.

Basically, the gist of the article is that Meiko is out for 2-6 months.  She's definetely out for the rest of 2007 and will miss Sendai's November and December shows.  The 6 months is a worst case scenario if she needs another operation-I think they did something with an endoscope already.  I'm not an expert, but I think there's not a lot you can do with this sort of injury besides wait for it to heal and not do anything to reinjure yourself.  I have to imagine this is very frustrating for a competitive, athletic, driven person.  Meiko did say that this was an opportunity for the younger wrestlers to assert themselves.  I wonder if Sendai attendance will suffer, or if the girls, along with the outsiders they bring in, will keep the crowds up.

As you saw in the last post, she missed the appearance at the breast cancer charity walk over the weekend, but was cleared to participate in a public appearance of some sort yesterday, but with an eye patch.  Here's another photo.

 *gah Damn you Azumi!!!

Seriously though, I'm pretty bummed with that but I look forward to the HATE when/if the potential match comes around.

I don't think attendance will suffer Josh I, if the fans who have already been going are anything like us and have become marks of the little uns not just because they have been great, but because they are marks of Meiko and the girls are her students.  She can put the girls in main events against the top juniors from other promotions and maybe have them all do 'trial' series against the older girls.  Maybe they could drop ticket prices slightly due to the lack of Meiko.  Thats if they have any kind of problem of course.

It might mean a push for one them, I'm thinking Okuda possibly. How it will affect attendances will be interesting to see.

And maybe Hyuga could make some special apperances in order to help draw more audience and as a form of compensation for having injured Meiko (and perhaps her presence could be used to build some story that would lead to Meiko's comeback and revenge)

Injuries happen, it's the nature of the beast.

Look at Ayumi.  She's been out since July and nobody has given her "compensation" though granted she's a freelancer.  But Meiko's not the first to be hurt though, accidents happen, like when Azumi tried to flatten Ayumi's head at DNH II with her finisher.

Hell, look at the time Tsubasa nearly snapped AKINO's back from a botches moonsault move.

Yes, injuries happen, but fortunately we're not talking about beasts but humans, and an even slight sense of guilt should be more than natural. I certainly don't think that after her ill-fated knee attack Hyuga walked out without even inquire about Meiko's health.
If it wasn't foor that slight sense of guilt there wouldn't have been those Plum Mariko memorials through the years...
