She's not very big, about the same size as Meiko.  The name Tyrannosaurus was chosen when all of the Sendai rookies got new names last fall.  Jinsei Shinzaki (president of Sendai Girls and Michinoku Pro) wanted her to have an "animal" name like they had in AJW back in the 80s (Jaguar Yokota, Lioness Asuka, Bull Nakano, etc.).  Most of the "good" animal names had already been used, but Okuda liked dinosaurs and chose Tyrannosaurus.

In the case of Lioness and Jaguar you are right on the money but the Bull in Bull Nakano is actually short for Bulldozer since each member of Dump's crew were initially named after construction/heavy vehicles (i.e. Crane Yu, Dump Truck Matsumoto etc...)

I think Tyrannosauras fits Okuda kinda well because when gets soemone on the mat and throws those punches/forearms she tears he opponent to shreds.

unless 18 is considered a legal drinking age in japan, that's tough to say
JOSH said she's 18

"You've won those two titles but what have you really done?  Meiko is not here and you need to step up and are you doing that to your best"?  Quite interesting

being an alumna of the jaguar yokota school of wrestling, it's not surprising for aja to expect more from these wrestlers. and while we are into the okuda love wagon, the bitter veterans have their own reasons for being ... well, bitter

but being bitter is the last thing on my mind whenever i watch her matches

after putting all that effort to make it look good, okuda's opponents just pull it around the place during matches

You gotta love the way Okuda kayfabes her blog.

After she lost the junior titles last weekend to Arisa Nakajima, she posted a heartfelt apology to her fans over her loss.  Then she didn't post for 4 days, which is unusual for her, as she's by far the most active blogger of the Sendai girls.

She posted finally today and the poor girl reports that she can't sleep at night, because of this loss, but she's going to put her energy into the Sendai tournament!

Am I getting the feeling that Meiko and THE Okuda's paths lie parallel with each other?

since meiko is booking SENDAI before the injury, she was able to book okuda in her mold
it's not surprising since she is a protege

In the case of Lioness and Jaguar you are right on the money but the Bull in Bull Nakano is actually short for Bulldozer since each member of Dump's crew were initially named after construction/heavy vehicles (i.e. Crane Yu, Dump Truck Matsumoto etc...)

I don't know about this... Is Condor a type of heavy vehicle? I'm pretty sure the nickname Dump comes from Konishiki Yasokichi, the Hawaiian sumo wrestler. He was a rising star in the mid-80s and nicknamed "The Dump Truck" (dude averaged 580lbs, heaviest rikishi ever.) He made it into the highest of the sport's six divisions after only eight tournaments, a modern record, and there was a huge backlash against him since he was gaijin.

I think Condor was the first girl with an animal nickname (like Grizzly Iwamoto and Bison Kimura), unless we don't want to consider Bull as Bulldozer Nakano...

A crane is an animal, not a particularly tough one, but sacred in Japan.

J.H. may be right, since one of the other girls was "Drill". Legend has it that a guest of the Matsunagas coined the name Dump.

He's right. Some Japanese Aircraft Carriers during the war were given such names as Zuikaku ("Lucky" or "Fortunate Crane") and Shokaku ("Crane Flying in Heaven"). There was also the girl who was born after Hiroshima who died of the radioactive poisoning who tried to make 1000 paper Cranes so the God's would grant her a wish.
