I think the public should vote for who wins the awards or at least nominate instead because Tokyo Sports has some really, really weird taste. When it comes to female wrestlers, anyway.

Saki Akai has wrestled two matches since debuting so that should tell you everything about how seriously to take these awards

The promotion is actually called World Pro-Wrestling Association (WPA).

Update to card.  Kanda is a 19 year old making her debut (born July 31, 1994; 152 cm, 62 kg).  I still think the Ishibashi/Hirota match will be more comedy that an actual deathmatch, but who really knows?  I'm guessing one more match to be announced, probably as the semi-main to give Aki a chance to change gimmicks.

World Pro-Wrestling Association December 31, 2013
Tokyo Shin-Kiba 1st Ring

1. Manami Kanda Debut Match: Manami Kanda vs Aki Kambayashi
2. Indian Strap Deathmatch (w/mud): Aoi Ishibashi vs Sakura Hirota
3. La Malcriada & Micro vs Bambi & Tsubasa Kuragaki
4. TBA
5. No Ropes Barbed Wire Street Fight Tornado 8 Man Deathmatch: Miss Mongol, Hideki Hosaka, Ricky Fuji, & Atsushi Onita vs Ichiro Yaguchi, Keizo Matsuda, Yuko Miyamoto, & Saburo Inamatsu.

Also:  Mayumi Hashiba, others.

So wait did Reina die and get reborn again or are (were?) there two seperate versions of it and one turned into this new promotion or what?

Kind of sucks to see Chii still slumming it. I'd really love to see her in JWP but I think someone said she'd rather work the lower tier feds or something to that effect.

The Aoi Ishibashi, Miss Mongoll, etc... crew split off from them a good while ago.

Two of the wrestlers TNA will be sending over for WRESTLE-1's March Ryogoku show are Gail Kim and Madison Rayne. Could be interesting to see who they'll be facing. Gail in a singles match would be great, but I doubt they're having several women's matches so they'll likely be tagging.

On the same subject, I wonder if W-1's women's "division" will become something more than the current offer match type deal? Not that I particularly care about the company, but they're the most prominent promotion to feature joshi girls on a regular basis so there's potential for something there...

Will be interesting to see how  Gail and Madison deal with the Joshi style, as nether has much experience with it ( wrestling Kong is different than wrestling a smaller, faster, more technical Joshi wrestler, and Madison barely wrestled Hamada much at all).  Hopefully Wrestle 1 picks good talents maybe even Nakajima and Kana?

Considering the status of the two that would be a terrible idea seeing that TNA would be looking for their people to win.

Gail's a heel and Madison's a face though so I'm assuming they'll have one joshi wrestler tag with Gail and another tag with Madison.
For example they could do Gail and Kana vs Madison and Nakajima. Besides it's not like Kana hasn't jobbed to foreign talents before, she lost at least a couple times to Serena in Smash.

That was before she won the JWP Openweight Title. SMASH was practically its own little world.

It probably just be two STARDOM idols that will have no problem doing the job.

No way. No other joshi promotion is more protective of their wrestlers (or "wrestlers") than Stardom. I fully expect this result on March 2 to make me want to puke.

So sorry if this is a stupid question but what makes Stardom's Rookies/"Idols" different  from other promotions Rookies?

I mean it's not like the stardom talents are really far below the other promotions rookies in terms of skill. Yoshiko is quite possibly the best rookie from her generation , Act is good in the ring and really charismatic , Kairi and Mayu are pretty  decent, and Takumi has a lot of potential.

Oh there is nothing wrong with them. There are just those who choose to believe they are idols who are destroying women's wrestling or at least what it represents in their minds. Its just willful ignorance and stupidity.

Speaking of Stardom and TNA it looks like Alpha Female's part of TNA now given that she had a match (teaming with Lei'D Tapa) at the tapings they're doing in the UK, won, and is alligned with Chris Sabin.

Given how ridiculously controlling TNA is regarding outside bookings (iirc they take a big cut of the wrestler's pay, the wrestler can't appear on anything that's going to be on TV/DVD, etc.) I wonder what this means for in Stardom.

Manami Katsu would wipe the floor with any of STARDOM's rookies, except Yoshiko.

Why are you always so defensive over criticism to STARDOM? It's an idol promotion and you know it is. Some of us don't like what they stand for, deal with it.

I deal with it fine. I'm not one who feels the need to attack a promotion randomly based off of biased and bs misconceptions.

Staerdom rookies are awesome. I can't think of one current active rookie who isn't great. Even the new girl is already good. Nanae trains these girls so if you think they're somehow on a lower level than anyone else, you're obviously biased. The only rookies that I'd put below the rest are the ice ribbon rookies.

On the TNA/Wrestle-1 thing iirc that might be in trouble because they got wind that Russo was back in TNA and are pretty pissed about that (the Japanese companies/wrestlers do NOT like him because, you know, having Liger lose the Jr. Heavyweight belt to a tequila bottle and putting Muta with the ICP doesn't endear you to people) to the point were Wrestle-1 people were directly calling Meltzer trying to get confirmation because TNA wouldn't give them a straight answer.

MUTA has no problem with ICP, he came in a worked a few JCW shows for them in 07

Re TNA/Wrestle-1
The upcoming show is still going to happen but any future working agreement would cease if Russo is confirmed to be back. The deal was put together by Jarrett before he left the company.

They also can't be happy about the fact that they were apparently given the impression that the Wolves would be sent over as the tag champs but TNA decided to hold back on giving them the belts so now the tag team title match is against the Bro-Mans.
