Joshifans search
« on: March 03, 2012, 05:26:58 AM »
I have no idea who is currently the owner of joshifans.com, so i am posting it here in the hope someone can notify whoever runs the site.

2 days ago i did a google search on something joshi-related and joshifans showed as first succesful entry. After clicking the link it showed the
"this site may harm your computer" warning. After doing some research i found out that many websites had this problem in the past. It usually means a website is infected with malware or has links to malware sites. When google crawls through the website and sees any reference to that malware it flags that website as harmful.

To fix this problem you must first make certain all the malware is removed from the website, and then do a "malware review request" in the webmaster tools account. With other words, removing the malware isnt enough, as long as the site isnt reviewed with google's tool the site will continue to be labelled as harmful.

More information about this at googles support forum FAQ: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=1c3090220db34b1b&hl=en

Like i said, i hope someone can notify "whoever runs joshifans.com" because this is a serious problem. I've read stories on other forums of webmasters who saw their traffic drop 90%. If a wrestling-related website posts some joshi-related stuff, people who read that often go to google to search for more in formation (especially with all the joshis working in the usa nowadays), and although joshifans usually appears at the top of the search results, people cant visit this site through that link and go to a different site instead. This also means that its almost impossible to attract new members to this forum, and that kinda explains why the forum is so quiet nowadays.

Hello! I am currently the person responsible for Joshifans.com, after the original owner Kori had to step away. I noticed the malware issue a while back too. Then later the same day it was OK. So it seems OK now? Anyone else have this issue recently?

I can notify my tech support guy if issues are still popping up.

Thanks!

I just tried with both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

In firefox i type "joshifans" in the search bar and then click the first link that shows up to this site. That tries to link me to some russian site, but google gives that malware warning before linking to it.

Internet Explorer does the same thing, but before getting a malware warning i also get a warning from Zonealarm which complains about a css.js script file
So I assume that the malware problem lies within that script.

Hopefully this is enough info for your tech guy.

What is this site? It's where Google redirects you before getting here.

It's a russian scamsite (which is taken down already). Google doesnt redirect you to it, but when joshifans was infected with malware a while ago google flagged this site and thinks that that russian site is still the same as this forum.

It's a common problem for forums. Hackers use bots to scout millions of sites and if they see a site with a vulnerability they place malware on that site that redirects to other sites (like this russian one).

It should be fixed now. If the site is still showing the RU site, clear your browser's cache, should solve the problem!  *approve
