Kensuke Sasaki, her husband, uses it in Japan. Steve Corino as well.

yes but Al's is sooo weak compared to Akiras, Kensuki has never done one that I've seen that looks as dangerous either.

My Lottery numbers have been the same for years.... they were to do with Akiras age & weight at that time, never won though

If you ever do win, you owe her kids some new bikes.

Jimmy Rave also used the Northern Lights Bomb.

I had been wanting to start the Akira Hokuto thread in this forum but good thing somebody beat me to it.

The reason is I've been trying to write a tribute article about Hokuto (then Nakano afterwards) but I'm a very young joshi fan. I've been reading around the forum and am happy to see that a lot of people have what I can't have: a proper perspective. I was too young for the joshi boom and too oblivious when it began to decline. That's why I'd like to ask the elder fans if they could share their knowledge and experiences regarding Akira Hokuto as I am confined to learning only from the online profiles and mini-biographies which are sorely lacking in engagement (little to no grasp of the Japanese language also proves frustrating at this point).

I (and other young fans) would surely appreciate all assistance in starting a great discussion.

Thank you!

Akira is definately one of my favs. I've always despised faces and loved the chaotic, violent and anti-social evil.

You know Kensuke is an ambassador to Fiji?

It doesn't matter who uses the NLB now, the fact is just like the Kudo Driver and the Death Valley Driver it was invented by women a history tidbit that is often left out of commentary.

I admire Akira for rising from "rookie who gets punked out at every available moment" to "one who does the punking" through use of the universal tools in wrestling: image, fire, sell and image.

And i mean, she went on to become the greatest with a freakin' broken neck!

vamp, whenever i tell people on youtube that hokuto once wrestled with a broken neck, they cringe
coz everyone knew that a broken forced steve austin to retirement
tell that to akira hokuto and she might even be too happy how to demonstrate how she wrestled with a broken neck

Is there any truth that there are plans to release a biography called "The Dangerous Queen Story?" I've read some people ask about it but everytime I try to look it up, I just kept getting redirected to the questions.

I wonder if they'll do a biopic on Hokuto. They could call it "Oro de Ley."

Oh, bubbly coffee, maybe you can add this picture to the first post to greet first time thread readers:

I think one of the reasons she could give pain was because she really knew how to take it.

She earned the locker room nickname of "Mummy" for a reason!  I don't know of anyone who's worked with more pain and injury, holding herself together out of love for what she does and sheer force of will like Akira Hokuto.

And I still giggle a bit whenever I watch the match between her and Medusa at Bash at the Beach...she was stiff without being unsafe and taught a clinic in that match about how to be a dominate heel without making it an all-out squash.

And mark-out to the hag mask!

Honestly, I think she is one of those rare cases where there is a perfect blending of both style and substance...Bull Nakano comes close, and Aja Kong closer still, but IMO, there really are none better than Akira.

As one who tends to favor the faces (at least in joshi) Akira is so awesome that she is an unabashed exception to prove the rule!

Maybe when I get caught up on other things, I'll go on more at length about the awesomeness that is Hokuto, but right now, I've got other things I need to do  *robot

If I wasn't so hardcore in my love for AKINO, I'd foam at the mouth watching some of Akira's matches.

BUT.

ME still likes the AKINO > ALL.

But Akira's friggin' AWESOME.
You so much as TOUCH kitty's ass, and I'll put a firecracker in your nutsack and blow your balls all over your pants!

Does anyone out there have a gif of Akira doing the Northern Lights bomb?  By Ayumi Kurihara character is looking good to win her next match (she's got a 4 point lead right now) and it's not a move that lends itself to being described with text well, and I want her to use it in the match, so since most players are puro-ignorant, a gif is most handy so they know that they've been hit with a big move.

Anyone?  Anyone?  a gif of the NLB?  Beuller?
