The main event for "Golden Ribbon" on 5/3 at Korakuen is now set: NEW ICEx60 Singles Champion Riho vs. Emi Sakura for the title. If Sakura makes weight of course. If she doesn't, it's a NON-TITLE match.

Elsewhere, Makoto participation was announced for the 5/1 DDT/Union Pro event. Makoto will team with DDT star Kota Ibushi to face Aja Kong & Ken Ohka. Riho participation is also set for the event.

Wow, gutsy move on Ice Ribbon's part, to go with that as a main for their big show.

I predict Riho wins too

I hope she does too, admittedly I'm a little surprised they didn't do what they've done for the last few champions first-have them successfully defend against the gatekeeper-Makoto. Both Tsukasa Fujimoto & Miyako Matsumoto defended against Makoto first (at least Miyako did, Tsukasa defended against Hamuko Hoshi before getting Makoto), but apparently Riho specifically asked for Emi as her first challenger.
On Ice Ribbon's blog (part of their website) they also posted a picture of Riho holding up what appears to be a handwritten letter from her mother that was given to her after today's event:

So anything else anounced for that show?

I'm curious to see if they try and stack it with outsiders or if they're gonna try and draw with just their in house crew.

Not yet. I imagine it'll be a combination of both their own girls and outsider participation. They'll almost certainly bring Nanae Takahashi in, maybe some of the other semi-regular outsiders (Kaori Yoneyama, Natsuki*Taiyo, maybe Masa Takanashi, others).

This sounds right.  I also still think they will do Miyako Matsumoto vs Jun Kasai in a fake deathmatch.

Well, I just found out that Kasai will be in attendance next Sunday at Itabashi Green Hall! Miyako asketh & she shall receiveth, so originally I would've said no way. But who knows...anyway, the full card for 4/17 at Itabashi Green Hall:
Emi Sakura, Natsuki*Taiyo & Mai Ichii vs. Hikari Minami, Hikaru Shida & Tsukasa Fujimoto
Triangle Tibbon Champion Miyako Matsumoto vs. Riho vs. Nanae Takahashi in a 3-way for the title
GENTARO (Freedoms) & Aika Ando vs. Hamuko Hoshi & Makoto
JWP Jr. Champion & POP Champion Ryo Mizunami (Sendai Girls) vs. Kazumi Shimouma for the title

Also, Emi Sakura has begun posting her plans and efforts to get back down to 60kg in time for her ICEx60 Singles Title match on 5/3 against Riho. As of today it appears she will need to lose 8 kg (17.6 pounds!) between now & 5/3.

Close to that, she has roughly 23 days to do it so she's got to lose about 3/4 pound a day. I wouldn't call it impossible, let's not forget that Hamuko Hoshi had to lose something like 12-13 pounds in a span of not even 2 weeks to get her shot against Fujimoto.

With or without towels on hand?

Added to GOLDEN RIBBON on 5/3 at Korakuen is Kota Ibushi (DDT) & Makoto vs. Munenori Sawa (BattlARTS) & Bambi (K-DOJO).

Tomorrow's Ice Ribbon School card:
Exhibition match: Emi Sakura vs. TBA
Tsukasa Fujimoto vs. Chii Tomiya
GENTARO (Freedoms) & Natsuki*Taiyo vs. Masa Takanashi (DDT) & Hamuko Hoshi
Nanae Takahashi & Mai Ichii vs. Makoto & Hikaru Shida

Mai Ichii's next MMA fight was announced today by the promotion, she will face Saori Ishioka at Jewels 8th Ring on 5/23 at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring.

Also added to 5/3 at Korakuen is Mai Ichii vs. Emi Fujino. It will be 2 3-minute rounds and apparently the girls will be allowed to wear MMA gloves (they're both fighters, after all)

Ice Ribbon announced a new addition to the roster today: Yumiko Inoue. A former gravure idol (of course) and martial arts fighter, she also briefly competed in JDstar before apparnetly taking time off due to having a child. Her Ice Ribbon debut will be Saturday against Chii Tomiya.

Emi Sakura participation in ZERO1 is also set for 4/22. She'll face Kikutaro in "History's First TWITTER Match". Seriously.

Well, it was either that or she drop it back to Riho, who's already focused on facing Emi for the ICEx60 Singles Title at Korakuen (if Emi makes weight of course). But Nanae came up short when Riho became the first champion, so I guess it's an excuse to put another strap on her. Or they're burying Miyako just as quickly as they built her up.

I like the card so far, and there will be more added before event time. Somehow I sense that the odd couple (Miyako & Kasai) will win the tag team title match or there will be a riot. And I'll go a little further-whoever gets the pinfall will do so after a Pearl Harbor Splash. And anyone else think Kasai will bring a couple of flourescent lighttubes with him?

Maybe it's just my perception of Ice Ribbon (though it is one of my favorite promotions), but question: Whysoserious about Ice Ribbon titles?
