I've decided to chronicle some of the stuff that I go through at the text-based pro wrestling RPG, Wrassle[dot]net (
http://www.wrassle.net ) with my Ayumi Kurihara character (and her supporting cast)
First, let me explain that Wrassle is more than just an e-fed. It's got a sim engine that usually determines match outcomes (except for all Role Play matches) and how well you role play in the match can give you finishing rights, so even if you get blown out in the sim, you can still have a say in how the match finishes (if you're on the losing end and want to cement your heel status you can RP drawing the DQ, or if you don't feel like really putting them over because they were an ass during the match you can RP them getting the count-out or blatently cheating so they can pin you, etc.)
Then, there's RPing your character doing the day-to-day stuff, and that's where heat between characters is built and in some feds how well (and how consistant) you RP off-card can be more important to you getting title shots than how well you do during booked matches. Wrassle has 6 different promotions, 2 that are "National" where everyone wants to get a contract to but there are only 25 roster spots in each and one of them is set in Japan, 3 "regional" feds that are like working the indys and a "training ground" fed for those who want to learn how wrassle RP really works without getting ripped apart by those that are more experienced in the regionals (unfortunately, you don't always end up in the training ground CWA when you create a character, so if you read the flashboard and are lost you can ask on the OOC board for a transfer and they'll be more than happy to put you in the CWA)
OK, now that I've explained a little bit about the Wrassle universe, let's introduce you to the Ayumi Kurihara that rules face there.
Ayumi Kurihara The Flame of HopeWhen I first made her, I was going to have her be as much a freelancer as wrassle would allow (contracts with a fed are 3 months long) with the idea being that I was going to win every all-RP title in every fed. That plan ended up being discarded once I got Ayumi her first National contract. Oh well...
Over the course of time, some things ended up happening with angles and my Ayumi has a somewhat darker past. At an early age, her parents ended up giving Ayumi over to the elders of a small rural village in Fukuoka and she was trained to be a
kunoichi. The training was harsh and brutal and during her early teen years in order to cope with trauma of being a killer, she developed multiple personalities. The core personality is The Flame of Hope Ayumi...face to the point of nearly having a halo, this one is most like the RL Ayumi Kurihara. But then there's her darker, more evil side...
Burning Hate AyumiThis is the personality that does all the dirty work. Ruthless, hateful, and without remorse, "Burning Hate" despises men, feels that they are all beneath her and would kill one standing across the ring from her if that "damned Flame of Hope would let me have my way" Wrassle policies prohibit the killing of another character that you don't control, but Burning Hate has caused a guy to have a stroke when he dared to interfere in a match during a time when the Flame of Hope wasn't in control (teach him to drop from the rafters into the steel cage meant to keep ppl from interfering and RPing a punk-ass One Sided Beat Down that knocked Ayumi out cold) and temporarily paralyzed another guy with her nerve blocking techniques (it would have killed him had the Flame of Hope not summoned enough willpower to create a body twitch at just the right moment) But since there is no such thing as someone with multiple personality disorder having only two...
AYU The Mischievous QueenWhen it's all too much to handle, Ayumi dons the mask and lets AYU handle things. AYU is the wacky, zany, and totally comedically insane. She acts most like some off-beat character from a shojo anime...even busting out with a Sailor Moon-esque "In the name of Mischief...I will punish you!" If it's fun and silly, then AYU's all for it! She'll flash her boobs to a guy in order to make sure he doesn't see the prank about to go off right under his nose...and when she farts, it's purple knock-out gas like in the old Batman TV series. AYU has made a couple of rare appearances without Ayumi putting the mask on, but in the near-on two years that I've been playing the character, that's only happened twice. AYU is also a part of the Wacky Pair Team Duo with TOYO (who's Ayumi's tag partner Nami Toyotomi's masked alter ego, but with Nami, the TOYO thing is just a lark and not a seperate personality)
Yuki MiyazakiAyumi's manager and translator during times when Ayumi's SUPER thick Engrish doesn't cut it, Yuki handles business. Much put-upon by the Flame of Hope always being in the middle of something and AYU's antics while doing her best to keep Burning Hate from emerging whenever she can actually do something about it, poor Yuki has her hands full. Also, Ayumi has this running gag where she calls Yuki "grandma" and Yuki shouts "I'M ONLY 29!!" in protest. Add to that, Yuki starting the Onna Zenjou Academy (yes, O.Z. Academy. another running bit is always claiming that O.Z. Academy and OZ Academy have nothing to do with each other...gotta work in as much joshi in-jokes as possible so the other players will want to know more about joshi puro if for no other reason than to be in on it) for most of the females in the National I play in to counter all the anti-women in wrassling that the guys in the fed partake in to the point where last month, the UCE's major heel started the "Beat a Bitch Tour" which ended when Ayumi beat him at the Monthly pay per view for the fed's top belt (which is all-RP, so he can't claim I bought stats to beat him)
Nami Toyotomi The Kawaii Kid(sorry, I don't have Nami's avvie on hand at the moment since I wasn't the one who made it. Will fix in the future)
Roughly based on Fuuka, Nami is Ayumi's tag partner in both the New Jumping Bomb Angels and in the Wacky Pair Team Duo as TOYO
Nami's got a bit of a bitchy streak to her character...think kinda like AKINO during the HamAKINO days. Plucky heelish, she'll wave and blow kisses to the fans and mean it, but will have no compunction with gouging an eye or kicking a guy in the nuts or grabbing a handful of tights, but it's always because we're usually in matches against men so the fans don't mind it, some even mark out to Nami BECAUSE she'll be sweet as cake right before throwing blinding powder into some big bad man's face. In an Out Of Character note: I feel like the guy who plays Nami is a protege of mine both in wrassle and in getting him into joshi puroresu...I know he's lurked here in the past before I went away for a time, for all I know, he'll read this. Hi, Jake!!
Now that I've introduced the main cast in Ayumi's wrassle world, next will be introducing those that Ayumi is pitted against and the girls that Yuki is training with the O.Z. Academy (which is nothing like Mayumi Ozaki's post-GAEA project) but that will have to wait for a little while...I need to check the boards.
